Let’s Go Stars! I had no idea how much I missed going to Dallas Stars games and was so happy to be able to end my week there. After a long week, going to a game with my friends was just what I needed. For this game the Dallas Stars were playing the New Jersey Devils which made it number 4 in the league versus number 5. Setting up for what was going to be a good game!
We were able to get to our seats just in time for them to play the hype up videos and announce the starting lineup. Not too long afterwards the puck dropped and the game was on its way. The first period was great and the Stars ended it being up 2 goals. Before we knew it the second period was coming to an end where the Devils scored 2 goals. Going into the third it made for an interesting end to the game as we were all tied up.
For what I hope would be luck on our side, it was not. All 4 goals had been scored on the same side and the Stars would be shooting on that side for the third period. Unfortunately, the Stars were not able to score a goal ending the third period in a tie. With a tied score, the Stars went into overtime. Although overtime is sudden death in hockey, I was still excited for it because I got more hockey!
Even though the Stars in the end did not win, my friends and I had a great time. Going to a hockey game is great way to do something fun and enjoy spending time with your friends. By the end we were even considering getting half season ticket! So if you are looking for something chill to do with your friends, I recommend going to a Stars game or any sporting event.
For those of you who do not know, the Dallas Stars play at the American Airlines Center located in a part of Dallas called, Victory Park. Being located in the city, the parking situation can be tricky due to the lack of space. For this reason, here are my best alternatives to get to the game instead of driving.
One, if you live in Dallas or are within walking distance, my best advice would be to walk. Do not worry you will not be the only one. When I went, I walked and by the looks of it, I was not the only one. A lot of people will walk to the games whether that be from a hotel or their apartment. My best friend lives in Dallas, so I parked at her apartment and walked the 20 minutes. Which I think walking is great since it warmed me up before having to sit in the cold AC.
Another option would be to take public transportation. When I was younger and went to games, my family would use the DART train. We would drive to our nearest DART station and take the train into Dallas. This option was great because we did not have to worry about parking and allowed for us to get in and out of the game quick. This is another way to avoid traffic! My only advice would be to check the train times to make sure that you do not miss the last ride.
If walking or public transportation is not your thing, a third option would be to take an Uber. Nowadays Uber has become so popular that it is second nature that if you do not want to drive somewhere all you do is call a ride. Along with walking, Uber is another great option for those who are over 21 and part take in drinking at the games. Uber will allow for you and your friends to make it home safe.
Lastly, if all else fails, drive. Just remember that stadium parking is expensive. Also, make sure that you are parking in designated areas. Sometimes people will try to sell parking spots that they do not own or are in charge of. Which means your car could be towed.
I would say figuring out what to wear for games is the hardest part, especially if you are going when the weather is hot outside. Luckily for us, we picked a game during the winter so we did not have to worry about carrying layers with us to the game. As for how many layers to wear inside, well that depends on the person. For me, I am a person that gets cold super easily so I made sure that I had a jacket. Also, I would say where you sit in the rink will also determine what you might want to wear. If you sit closer to the ice, more layers will most likely be needed.
Outfit Inspo
My friends and I, we sat in the nose bleeds so it was slightly warmer as we were not as close to the ice. For the game, I wore a black turtleneck tank top, black leather jacket, light washed jeans, black booties, and my Dallas Stars Beanie. I would say that for where I was sitting, what I wore kept me warm enough during the game. Towards the end of the game, I did get slightly cold, so in the future I would probably wear a long sleeve shirt instead of the tank top. Other than that I think my outfit did what it needed to do which was be cute and keep me warm!
